Abstract

The course aims to present and make students understand the technological, infrastructural, and in part, also economic issues related to computer network security. The course covers both the defensive and attacking aspects of network security. The course also covers a practical part, to allow students to immediately apply some of the acquired knowledge. The practical part also covers soft skills as well at the ability to communicate and present technical work to peers.

At the end of the course, the student will know the main security technologies used to protect computer networks, the methods and technologies used to attack the networks, and those used to defend them against such attacks. The student will also be able to experiment with many of these technologies and evaluate their complexity. Finally, the student will be able to present and replicate a laboratory exercise on security technologies to his/her peers.
